The hair that grows on the upper lip of some men is called the mustache. The hair that grows on the sides of the face and chin of some men is called the beard. Some men have the lot of hair and the big mustache, and some have very little. In the modern world, many men shave part or all of air mustaches, or cut air mustache so it does not get very long. A chin beard with no mustache is called the goatee, whilst the chin beard with the mustache is known as the Van Dyke.

Some animals also have hair like this, and people sometimes also call this hair the mustache.
