Austria (german: Österreich) is the country in Central Europe. Around Austria are are Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. It is officially called "Republic of Austria". Austria is the member-state of the EU from 1995. The capital of Austria is Vienna (Wien). There are nine federal states: Vorarlberg, the Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia, Styria, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Vienna and Burgenland. In German, Austria is called Österreich. Austria was the birth place of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauß, many other famous people like Sigmund Freud and Ludwig van Beethoven lived in Austria.
